Welcome…
May 8, 2009
In an attempt to honor dad and mom, Brother and Sister, President and Sister, Reed and Eleanor and all the other great titles they go by, we have set up this blog. Please note that at the top of this screen, below the photo, are links where you can post your thoughts, insights and memories about these great people.
It is our goal to collect hundreds of “moments” to then share with them as they turn 70 this summer. Please feel free to post. Share a memory. Tell us about the impact they have had on your life. Let us know what you have learned from them. These can be spiritual insights, funny memories, or practical advice they have given you.
We also encourage you to comment on other posts. If you remember a funny experience “slightly differently”, share that with us as well. If you learned something about an experience that has been shared by another, share your insights in a comment.
We hope you will want to come back time and time again as additional ideas come to mind. We also encourage you to share this site with anyone that you know of that knows Reed and Eleanor. Again, we would love to collect as many posts as possible.
Thanks in advance for all of your help!
I was glad to find this fun site – congrats Reed and Eleanor! (Two years late, so happy 72nd) I am trying to find my ol’ pal Jen Heywood – maybe she’ll check this! Jen, find me on facebook (just type in Kristin Porter Hahner) or find me at my work by typing in Kristin Hahner in Google (I live in Grass Valley, CA). I’d love to reconnect!
Wow congratulations on turning 70, being faithful to eachother all these years, easing your family, and serving in the church. When I reflect on my memories of you both I think of all the advice and teaching I received from you both. From president Heywood I remember the council to act like a son he could be proud of, the importance of being a good orator when you shared your talked you had polished for a couple of years with us, how all spiritual things can be likened to physical things when you share the message of spiritual vitality and ECG readings- I still think about that as I try to read ECG during my rotations, how we can either accept the oath and covenant of the priesthood or be damned and the importance of magnifing our oath, how valuable the individual is not the numbers, and of course President Packers 25 page talk on missionary work and how to do member missionary work. From Sister Heywood I learned how birds need to leave the nest and fly, how to explain your faith to the first black person you ever met, the importance of sharing gifts- especially the gift of the atonement, and of course manners. I really enjoyed having you as Mission President and Mission Matron. Thanks for your teaching and great example.
